Bari is within the region of Apulia, which forms the easternmost part of the peninsula and has a lengthy coastline, facing the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas.
Canne della Battaglia and Ignazia are two great archaeological complexes. The Roman remains are significant throughout the region. The Romanesque art produced amazing architectural works, notably the cathedral of Bari. Also to be found in Bari, is a thirteenth-century Byzantine-Arab style castle, these are apparent throughout the region of Apulia.
Tourists can visit the Palace of the University, which includes the important Archaeological Museum. You will find relics dating back to the Neolithic and Bronze Age, also funeral urns, ceramics and bronze from the necropolis.
